Mr. David Mullis is a native to North Carolina. He lives in Cabarrus County. His family has a long history with Cabarrus County that dates back to John and Sarah Reed, the owners of the Reed’s Goldmine. Mr. Mullis graduated from Central Cabarrus High School in 1992. It had been a long struggle due to a learning disability in reading and written expression. He married his high school sweetheart, Dana Mullis, after a two-year engagement in 1994. He then attended Appalachian State University, where he received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Elementary Education. After graduating, David began his career as a fourth grade teacher in 1996 with the Davidson County School system. As he and his wife slowly worked their way back to Cabarrus County, he taught third grade for Rowan- City Schools. In 1999, David started working for Cabarrus County Schools as a fourth grade teacher. After three years of teaching fourth grade for Cabarrus County Schools, he was promoted to teaching fifth grade. He worked two more years for Cabarrus County Schools before becoming dissatisfied from the burdens placed on students from end of grade testing. In 2005 he accepted a job at Dore Academy, now the John Crosland School.  He’s had the pleasure to teach fifth grade in lower school and sixth, seventh, and eighth grade science and social studies in middle school. In his free-time, he enjoys playing and building guitars, building and painting motorcycles, and spending time his wife and daughter, Bethany, on their family farm.
