Head of School
Catherine Schlesinger has dedicated her career to working with children and teens and to the field of education. Originally from Fort Wayne, Indiana, she received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Indiana University, Bloomington. Her experiences in education include many years of teaching fifth and sixth grades, working as a school counselor at the high school level, and most recently as Head of School at Dore Academy. Cathy feels passionate about meeting the needs of students with learning differences and helping them achieve academic success. She also enjoys reading and traveling. She has lived abroad twice (Bermuda as a child, Dusseldorf, Germany as an adult) and has spent a lot of time in Europe and travelled throughout the US, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Asia. A trip to India and Nepal was a particular highlight. Cathy’s favorite destination of late is Chicago. Her son, Stephan, and his wife, Leslie, reside in the Chicago area with their three young children. Cathy now considers Charlotte home after living in the Queen City for nearly thirty years. However, she spends lots of time going back and forth to the Midwest to enjoy being grandmother to Kendall, James and Adelynn.
