Teacher – 5th Grade
Kristina Barnes is an enthusiastic, resourceful, organized young lady who graduated from Queens University of Charlotte with a Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Health Sciences and a minor in Psychology. Kristina’s experience with LD students goes back to her senior year of high school where a senior project introduced her to the wide range of learning disabilities and placed her in a special needs classroom. Most recently, Kristina spent time working as an Intern with Autism Charlotte which led to her placement at The John Crosland School.
Kristina joined the Crosland Family in January 2015 where she began working as a Student Aide and then went on to support as a substitute teacher. In 2016 she accepted the position of Teacher 4th and 5th Grade. In addition to these roles, Kristina also serves in the capacity of Data Manager for our newly implemented school management system software – Rediker.
In her free time, Kristina enjoys being adventurous; taking up outdoor activities such as hiking and white water rafting as well as traveling at every opportunity. She also enjoys watching Netflix and trying new crafts and recipes on Pinterest. Most important to Kristina is spending time with my family and friends, competing in pageants, and cuddling up with her new furry kitten who is very sweet and full of energy.
Kristina has been accepted into the Special Education Graduate Certificate Program at UNC-Charlotte and will begin her work this fall 2015 semester. This is phase one for completion of her Masters of Teaching Special Education and hopefully just the beginning of many years to come with the Crosland Family.
