Embracing Differences: A Journey of Success at Crosland School

Embracing Differences: A Journey of Success at Crosland School

One of the best parts about existing in the world of admissions at Crosland is that I often come across heartwarming stories that exemplify the transformative power of our unique educational approach. Today, I am thrilled to talk about the journey of Abigail, a former student. Although I did not work here when she attended, reading Abigail’s mom’s words inspired me to share!

When Abigail first joined Crosland, her parents’ biggest fear was whether she would be able to thrive in an environment that was larger than Crosland after existing in such a small pond of students for so long. This fear is not uncommon, as parents understandably worry about the transition from a specialized learning environment to a more diverse educational setting. However, Abigail’s story is a testament to the inclusive and supportive community that defines Crosland.

Abigail’s parent expressed, “My biggest fear while Abigail was a student at Crosland was whether she would be able to do well at a school with kids who attended public or large private schools. I can tell you the answer is yes!” And indeed, the results speak for themselves. At the end of her first year at Western Carolina University, Abigail achieved an impressive 4.0 cumulative GPA – a remarkable feat that silenced any doubts about her ability to succeed in a more mainstream educational setting.

What sets Crosland apart is its commitment to acknowledging and embracing differences. From the moment Abigail arrived, she was welcomed with open arms by the Crosland community. Rather than focusing on potential challenges, the school took the approach of determining the best ways to work with her unique learning style.

The caring environment at Crosland provided Abigail with a range of learning methods tailored to her needs. Teachers invested time into understanding her strengths and challenges, allowing her to process and understand information in a way that worked for her.

Abigail’s parent reflected on the transformation, stating, “Her teachers helped shape my learning-challenged, insecure, awkward, anxious girl into a smart, capable, and confident young woman.” This sentiment captures the essence of what makes Crosland School so special – the unwavering dedication of our educators to nurture each student’s potential and foster an environment where differences are celebrated.

As Abigail awaits the grades for her third semester, there is no doubt that it will be another successful one. Abigail’s journey is a shining example of the transformative impact of Crosland School’s educational philosophy. It is a reminder that with the right support, dedication, and an inclusive community, every student can overcome challenges and achieve success. At Crosland, we continue to embrace differences and empower students to reach their full potential, just as Abigail has done.
